This collection is based on my insecurities about myself. I worked around parts of my body I don’t like, making prints and forms around each specific body part.
I was inspired by the riding gown for women with a side saddle and came across an image of this riding gown presented on two mannequins, one wearing the skirt and the other wearing the pants they used to wear underneath. It was seeing my insecurities haunt me like they were stuck in my head as a second person.
For my collection,
I was heavily inspired by the artist Dorothea Tanning. The way she created sculptures using fabric and made these forms with little seems and darts is a technique I used in my own way in the collection.
The main goal of my collection is to embrace the way I am so it doesn’t hold me back from my work or life in general.
